My Sponsored Child Via World Vision

I am a proud sponsor of Arif Hawlader through the World Vision program. He’s a three year old boy from Bangladesh. I didn’t watch any program on TV or the sort, I was simply doing laundry when a canvasser knocked on my door. A young man of nineteen started giving his pitch on the program. I interrupted him with my spiel about how the economy hasn’t been lending me much of a helping hand lately. Well, you can guess who won that pitch-off.

The End of Barwatch or Just the End of Barwatch as We Know it?

It’s official! BC’s Information and Privacy Commissioner, David Loukidelis, has ruled against Vancouver’s Barwatch Program and to cease the scanning of patron’s IDs as a condition for entering the establishments. The Commissioner Office, however, is leaving the door open for consultations with Barwatch.

The issue of Facebook and its users’ privacy agreements has surfaced in the news once again. Not surprisingly the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada has found that Facebook’s practices, such as sharing users’ information with third party developers and maintaining users’ information indefinitely, breach Canadian privacy laws. (This is why I don’t add on those silly Facebook applications.)
